Pyramid the Shadows Part 7 - Will this ever end?

Clan Drakka proceeds to level three and the stench of the undead is ever stronger up here than anywhere else! They are setup in one room only to get trapped between a wall of force and deadly gas! Luckily wise Thrantus spotted seams in the magical wall that lead to Valerious and Char breaking it at the walls weakest point! The next room that followed as a lethal maze that hurt the group every round they were next to a wall, at the same time they were forced to fight banshees and wights! Finally in the last room of this section a splinter of Karavakos is met and defeated! The wards holding the group away is closer to being beaten and just one splinter remains!

Pyramid the Shadows Part 6 - Are you Icemaul?

We find Clan Drakka missing several key members including both rogues, the newly risen from the dead Critter, and the ever stawart Tinzin. It is later known that they decided to make a final canvasing of the first level for Garg in case they missed some area he was located... The rest of the group moves through what remains of the second level clearing out all that remains of the far realm, and proceeds to the North where rumor that the dragon is located there. They knock on a frozen door and when nothing happens they open the door and are greeted by some Ice Eladrin. The Ice Eladrin are evil and plan to give the group to Icemaul as a sacrifice. Drakka defeats them and parlays with Icemaul, who gives them the key to the third level! Also gained is an ally for the upcoming fight between the Faerunian Dragons and returned Abeirian Dragons, excellent!

Pyramid the Shadows Part 5

As the group continues on through the prison, they encounter more rooms from the Far Realm. A room with living walls... A room with some horrified aspect of Karavakos, in which was the hardest fight ever had of the Clan Drakka. It even saw the smallest member of the Clan, Critter perish! Oh the humanity! After the fight was over Thrantus gathered what was left of Critter and spent 8 hours convincing his spirit to come back to complete his destiny!

Pyramid the Shadows Part 4

A truely Epic night this was! As the party battled a harpy and Gargoyles on the stairs going up to the second level, Tinzin was also called into duty disarming an array of traps on the stairs. At the top the group runs into what have to be creatures born not on this world but the Far Realm! Oh what madness! The would teleport out of large faces on the wall and travel about the room. Drakka eventually defeated them, and moved onto the next room where they got the drop on a blind etten and its mistress a Medusa! They encountered 3 doors, each a warped test. Passing through the second door it seemed that Critter was laid with a curse and that he spread it to Char! After a long day our party rests for the night...

Pyramid the Shadows Part 3

Our heroes fight their way to the North where the head of Vyrellis tells them the wretched Karavakos resides. They run across a pair of odd rooms, one is frozen with Chillborn zombies entombed in ice pillars. It seems the longer they stay in this room the faster the ice melts potentially freeing the zombies. As they go deeper in the room they find an antechamber that has some powerfull demon trapped in ice. They form the following plan: free the room's inhabitants and hide to see what happens. Indeed they melt and run out of the room leaving Clan Drakka alone!
The next room contains the headless corpse of Vyrellis! She gets excited and jumps off the next of Thanthus flinging herself into the body, only to find that Karavakos cursed the corpse to attack anyone in the room! As she curses Karavakos (and anyone in the party that hits her on accident while aiming at the corpse), she also weeps at her lost form...
The last room that is cleared is almost a let down compared to the other two. It is well scouted out by Tinzin and Critter and our heroes get the jump on some Hell Swords and Flame Skulls. They rest for the evening and plan on ascending the staircase in the morning!

Pyramid of Shadows part 2

The Clan Drakka finds out from the Head of Vyrellis that the entrace to the upper levels is somewhere in the North of the prison. Of course she desires an end to Karavakos and the group seems willing to aid her so they learn a good deal about their new home as time goes by. They clear out several areas, including one with a statue of Vyrellis in it. Past this area they find a remenant of Karavakos! He battles the party for what seems hours! (last Friday it really was!) and is finally defeated. They find an adamantine key that in Draconic reads: "First in Hardness not in Place." The party rests here and continues on...

Who is Karavakos?

The only name and clue that Drakka has to go on is an old thief named Karavakos. His last crime was commited in the Silverymarshes and he was sentenced to life in the Prison of Shadows. This once mighty prison housed the worst offenders, but the place has been closed for close to 5 decades, the inmates left to fend for themselves as Silverymoon first out of shame, and then forgetfulness left the prison to rot. The magic that binds it is still potent, but weakening. But yet, no one that enters can escape. To this place the group is driven to find the 2nd seal by finding Karavakos and discovering what he knows. It is suspected that he stole the 2nd seal long ago....
The group makes it into the prison, and encounters an ettin that was recently "sucked" into the place as such was the group, after defeating him, they come across a mystical magic item imbued with the life of a former Eladrin sorceress, Vyrellis! She was a former ally and lover of Karavakos before he got caught. In lieu of a tougher sentence he gave her up and she was imprisoned for life. They fought a battle, and she lost. All is left of the once pround Eladrin is part of her essence.
